Nothing wrong with praying. Or is there?

Nothing wrong with praying when your child is sick. But please, also go see a doctor. 'God helps those who help themselves', right? A doctor can actually help and praying - and most other forms of meditating - can help to stay calm and find courage and strength. But relying solely on prayer to help in a difficult situation is - sorry to say so - stupid.

When praying is all you cán do, sure, go right ahead. But when there are also other ways to get or give help, get up from your knees and do something. When you can be in control of a bad situation, take that control and don't just expect God to bail you out.

God is just a word we use for all that's outside of our control. And maybe an alien entity, a spirit, a nice thought, a comforting idea, a boogeyman to threaten children with, the Father of Jesus as well as Jesus Himself, the guy who got a fourteen years old girl called Mary pregnant some 2022 years ago, a myth, one of many gods, an invention from the church to control their flock or something (someone?) entirely else.

When a friend is hanging from a cliff, do you stick out your arm to pull her out or do you devoutly close your eyes and pray to God she miraculously survives?

When there's an evil and lethal virus going around, do you pray to God He will save you or do you listen to the scientists who are also His creation?

When you go bungee jumping, do you put your trust in God or in the guy who secures your rig?

For those who are stupid enough to think God will always save them, as long as the pray enough:
see if God saves you if you go bungee jumping without a cord. Please.
