My ADHD mornings

Thanks to people with ADHD sharing their stories about the condition, like half the couple behind this account on Instagram, I know I'm not the only one walking up with a 'T-Rex hand'. Apparently ADHD'ers don't wake up in a relaxing position.

An ADHD-friend described it as 'starting your mornings on speed'. Quite accurate. I just needed a few more words to describe the feeling:

Oh yes. I'm laughing but really want to cry and don't want to go to sleep because I know I will wake up wide awake. With my whole to do list of 138 items in my head while simultaneously 5 different songs are battling for attention and I'm listening to the converstation a guy on a moped with running engine at the front of my house is having on his phone, five birds fighting over the best spot on a branch of a tree at the back of my house, my upstairs neighbour playing 'Brazil' on his piano 16 times, alternated with the same 8 bars from An der schönen blauen Donau 12 times, only interrupted when he stands up to pee and I can't fall asleep again because I'm waiting for him to flush but he won't because he's cheap so he only flushes the toilet an hour or so later after he had coffee and a cigaret. My mornings are hell.

Without my daily physical and mental morning excercises I wouldn't know how to survive.

Are your mornings hell too or are you neurotypical?

The same ADHD friend shared a clip on ADHD. It shows an elderly lady playing the accordeon on the porch of a house. With a giant pair of slippers nailed to the wall, half a dozen dogs listening quietly and one dog standing on its hind legs, dancing like a white dude to reggae whilte trying to catch bubbles, apparently because it got bored of listening to the according music after thirty seconds.

I'm that dog! As well as that accordeon; as if my buttons are constantly pushed and I can't help to let out some air and share notes.
