The look in his eyes
was that of a soldier without army
or a writer without a pen.
Utter dispair and disbelief.
Why?
Because she spoke to him.
Him! Of all people.
He didn't know what to do
so he simply tried to enjoy
the food she gave him;
food for his stomache
but also
food for thought
