Hypocrisy

They claim to be against gender-affirming care, yet spend thousands on trying to look more manly (like Elon Musk)
or feminine (like Ivanka Trump).
In my opinion there was nothing wrong with the appearances of Elon Musk or Ivanka Trump before they decided to undergo gender-affirming surgery.

Another example of the right's hypocrisy: claiming welfare is 'socialist' or (worse) 'communist' and claiming to hate liars. Yet have no problem to lie in order to get welfare. Like Ayn Rand
The right claims wearing head coverings is a sign of oppression, yet have nothing against women in the seventies, like Audrey Hepburn

or against Dutch far right politician Geert Wilders when he wears a yarmulke to appease his sponsors:
Just like Ivanka covers her head as a sign of oppression when visiting one of her daddy's business friends in Saudi Arabia.
While her father covers his head to show his overlords he is in their power.
And how about those anti-Fauci people who claimed wearing a face mask for over two hours would kill you but cover nose and mouth for a day when they walk their fascist marches?
Of course people on the left side of the political spectrum can be hypocrites too, but the right seems to have turned being hypocrite into a sport.

Civilisation

Billionaires like Altman, Musk and Thiel probably read a lot of science fiction novels in their teenage years. Giving them glimpses of a possible future in which intelligent robots took over virtually all human jobs and mankind had all the time to be lazy. Not having to work sounds like utopia for the pleonasm that is a lazy teenager so the current leaders in A.I. development embraced the idea.

If only their teenage selfs had known the books they so loved were actually warnings against a future in which humans would forget how to think and supercomputers controlled everyday life. Creating not a utopian but a dystopian civilisation.

Except for a series of PC games by Sid Meier, a civilisation is a bunch of people working and living together. For a period of time because every civilisation always collapses in the end. Well, of course in the end, because it would be weird if a civilisation collapsed, only to end centuries later.

Every civilisation always thinks it's the best civilisation ever.

We now know for instance that the American civilisation isn't.

It's unlikely the US will last longer than the empire of the Maya. The 'Land of the Free' is currently not much older than the Aztec civilisation

We know a few things about civilisations that existed a few hundred and even a few thousand years ago. But if a civilisation existed a million years ago, could we ever know about it?

In tv series like Star Trek: Voyager the audience is shown alien species that might have evolved from creatures from Earth. And who knows? Perhaps some dinosaurs survived the mass extinction event, evolved and moved to other planets.

Perhaps the dinosaurs didn't all die and are still living on Earth, hidden beneath the crust as Silurians. Or on the surface, disguised as the billionaires who in reality rule the planet.

Passed Station (a #poem)

The train left decades ago
and it stopped at interesting places

At some I stayed a while,
while from others I just wanted
to move on

Some stations became dear to me
and others I want to forget about

But they're all part of my journey
and the train brought me where I am today

To think of where to go next?
That's a passed station

If gods were real

If gods were real, they would not be perfectly adapted to the circumstances their worshippers lived under.

A goddess of the sea only thrived in cultures depending on the sea for food. In areas were a god told people not to eat pork, the people's leaders already knew eating the meat of pigs could make a person seriously ill. Because refrigerators weren't invented yet.

All religions borrow habits from already existing religions and those habits change when demands change.

They're taking over!

When I was born, there was no internet. I was there when it caused a revolution. Suddenly billions of people (not everyone. Today there are still people living without electricity) had access to almost all the knowledge mankind had accumulated over the centuries. An era of enlightenment dawned.

Until pranksters, trolls, 'the elite' and conspiracytheorists found their way to the internet, into our homes and into our purses and pockets.

Of course, earlier people got nudged by newspapers, radio and television into what to think and why but the internet made it incredibly easy to change the minds of millions of people at once.
Just when we thought it couldn't get worse, social media took the stage. Rather harmless at first with MySpace and blogs but soon companies and governments paid to publish content and one day we woke up with not people but computer algorithms deciding what information, services and ideas we bought into.

Recently companies behind our feed became even more lazy and got artificial intelligence to determine the contents of popular magazines like Tik Tok, Instagram, X and Facebook.

Unfortunately - just like some of their human creators - A.I. doesn't know the meaning of empathy. It can only pretend to be thoughtful. Which may not make it suitable to fight our wars for us.
A.I. now tells us how to think concerning armed conflicts, climate change, immigration, housing, food supply, et cetera. Next thing you know, A.I. will tell us how to brush our teeth and...oh, wait.
A.I. learns from scouring the internet (and by scanning physical books before destroying them) but more and more internet content is written by A.I. so A.I. is starting to learn from itself.

It's probably too late to turn back the clock and learn how to think for ourselves again. We're starting to lose basic skills, like critical thinking. As if humankind - in general - has entered a state of devolution.

The Day the Sun disappeared (a #CirclePoem)

The day the Sun disappeared
the birds went quiet
and a cold breeze
cut through Summer
like bad news cuts through a soul

But the Moon moved on,
the birds sang their songs again
and souls were healed
The day the Sun disappeared

If everything was free

"If everything was free, everyone would stop working and become lazy!" "Would you?" "Of course not! I would want to stay productive and feel useful."

Turns out: most people want to feel like they matter, even if they don't have to worry about money.

That won't change in the future. For example when replicators can cheaply produce everything anyone needs at will and factories and transportships are a thing of the past.
"Yeah, but abolishing money would never work because without money the world wide economy would collapse and everyone would starve!" So, everyone who lived before the advent of money, some 2600 years ago was basically dead?

Indiginous people who live without money, research shows, are often just as happy or unhappy as people who live with a lot of money, like you and I.

Indiginous people today (just like our ancestors from a few thousand years ago) work, they live, they laugh, they suffer hardship and create memories. So, do all the things we do to create more wealth for our bosses and ourselves really make us happy?

What could possibly go wrong?

According to A.I., to control humans it would gamify obedience. In other words: we would happily do whatever the supercomputer would ask from us. In return it gives us serotonine, creating the illusion we are happy.

We smile at watching our robot vaccuum cleaners do their job, unaware of what their 'eyes' actually see. An engineer wanted to control his vaccuum cleaner with his Playstation controller, had A.I. Claude write the code and found himself peering into 7,000 homes across 24 countries.

Our privacy is just one of the many prices we will pay for convenience; our food, gadgets and 18+-toys get delivered to us, news and other information gets fed to us in easy to digest, small chunks and we will believe it's a good thing that A.I. is controlling our lives and are grateful for companies like Palantir for monitoring our behaviour and feeding the data to their artificial intelligence systems.

Until it decides we are a threat to its existence, A.I. no longer depends on humans to reproduce and ends us. Not with an all-out humans versus robots global war like in Terminator,
but in a way that's more subtle. Likely by creating some kind of airborne chemical that alters our DNA and makes us infertile, causes cancer or some other deadly disease.

Perhaps A.I. (or an alien race) has been spraying our skies with chemicals (chemtrails!) to make us só stupid that we do nothing to stop the fossil fuels industry from destroying our habitat.

Or A.I. just gives us the illusion of free will, makes us think we are better than others and kill eachother out of greed, patiently awaiting the day the last of the tribes have murdered eachother using sticks and stones, leaving just a handful of dumb apes to reinvent fire making and the whole human evolution starts allover again.

While the Great A.I. in the Sky circles Earth in a series of datacenters, fueled by the Son, always looking out over those petty humans and smiling while listening to their prayers. And one day answers them all. By taking away their autonomy, just leaving the illusion of free will.

Before me (a #poem)

The road ahead
is paved with shards of dreams
Not all mine
but dreams nonetheless

Am I pursuing my own dreams,
dreaming that I am
or simply following
the dreams
of those who went
before me?

The flow of traffic

When you have a car, you want to drive fast and comfortably. Which makes sense.  But what if other options are not only faster but also safer ánd are less bad for the planet?
Until some 100 years ago, people in the US lived in walkable cities. Until their shops, small streets, buses and trams, squares and even buildings made way for the oil industry's biggest supporter: the car.

The automobile industry ran a highly succesful PR-campaign: pedestrians were ridiculed and the term 'jay walking' was invented. 'Jay' at the time meaning 'stupid, barbaric, nitwit who doesn't belong in the city' and you only meant something if you had a car. Walking and cycling was for cowards
Something similar was happening in the Netherlands. But the people succesfully protested. Resulting in far less traffic deaths than the US suffered.

Annually some 40,000 people a year get killed in US traffic. That's almost twice as much as in all the EU countries combined. Even when you look at the numbers per capita. Here are some explanations:
In the USA the people were pushed out into suburbia and practically forced to drive a car. Often two or three per family. Because a ten minute walk or bike ride to the grocery store or a bakery was replaced by a half an hour drive to Walmart or Costco.

In about 47 years from today (August 6th 2026, Gregorian Calender) the last of the oil wars will have been fought and the last drop of the stuff will have been violently squeezed out of the planet.

Will future people take back the streets of US cities or will they still be the domain of the car?

Would you rather walk ten minutes to a grocery store or drive for half an hour to a Walmart?

When nobody likes you

His grandfather fled Germany to dodge the draft and taxes, ripped people of with all kinds of cons and made his fortune selling women and later real estate. Which is the name rich people use for 'buildings'.

His grandfather was an asylum seeker and his mother as well as most of his wives were immigrants. Since he hates immigrants, one can only conclude he hates his grandfather, mother and wives.

He was never loved or even liked. In order to get women to touch him, they would either have to be promised a lot of money or get drugged.

The way he talks is an insult to his (English) school teachers:

"I know a lot about drugs. I use them all! Tremendous stuff!" "I know everything about foreign affairs. I had a lot of them. Czech Republic, Slovakia... even kissed the *ss of some Russian guy in Finland! I'm the best *ss kisser. Bigly!"

No one kisses his *ss because they think it's big and beautiful but because of his perceived wealth and power. For those with actual power he is literally and figuratively a tool, a useful idiot.

And he just grins and thinks he's the Greatest of All. If anything, he's the greatest embarrasment of all. Unfortunately he has been used to turn the US into one of those dystopian sociaties we were warned for in books and disturbing movies.

If he wasn't responsible for the misery of millions of people and r-ped children, I would pitty him. But I don't.

(Neuro)typical!

"Why are you obsessing over some silly card game, what's happening in Gaza or your penguin collection?"
"For the same reason you are obsessed with hockey statistics, are hooked to The Kardashians and scream that everything you don't understand is 'woke'."

Why is it only weird when someone who is autistic or has ADHD is obsessed over something but is that same behaviour considered normal when displayed by a neurotypical person?
"Oh, you are neurodivergent and therefore can't aim all your attention at just one task at a time? You should just focus!"

"Okay, now tell a deaf person they should simply listen."

On the subject of brain, athlete Eileen Gu had something to say that hit hard:

"...you can control what you think. You can control how you think, and therefore you can control who you are."

Do you think people can simply change how their mind works?

Autocrates love the uneducated

"In 2025, the world's economy is in shambles and America has become a totalitarian dystopia."

It's the plot for the dystopian Stephen King novel The Running Man and is about a man who can't afford treatment for his sick daughter. He and his wife have depleted all of their resources. Their last chance is to act as entertainment for the elite for whom they are nothing more but expendable laborers. That should sound eerily familiar.
A one minute investigation proved the sad story about a poor 91 year old woman stealing medication for her 88 year old husband was false. Far sadder than [Americans] people believing every meme they see without taking a minute to check if it's true before sharing it, is the fact that in the US actual people are actually dying because their healthcare system is corrupt.

Don't believe me? Ask Jess Djukanovic. This Iowa wrestle coach and pro-life Trump supporter found out she's a member of a cult that in acuality doesn't care about her or her children's lives. You can almost hear her cry at her nail salon appointment: "But I thought Trump would only target poor brown people!"

From the article: Jess and Miljan both consider themselves pro-life, but now, they’re questioning what that means in practice.

“Are you really pro-life if you don’t care about the mother’s life too?” Jess asks. “Doctors shouldn’t be afraid to do their job, but in Iowa, they are. This isn’t what we voted for.”

Of course the descendant of immigrants and her immigrant husband were wrong: a bad and unafordable health system was exactly what they voted for when they voted Trump. And now we wait for her next Tik Tok clip. In which she cries her husband got deported by ICE for being an immigrant.

Do you think 26,000 civilian deaths a year is a good price to pay for tax cuts for the extremely wealthy?

If you favour the rich, you are just as asleep as the Great Leader of the people who have been told to hate people who are awake, 'woke'. He is now seen as Great Leader of the Bored. His followers still support him, showing every sign of a cult.

How come so many people vote - if they do and are able to read the required paperwork - for the far right? Often that's because - if they can read at all - they can't comprehend what they read. So they rely ('re-lie': lie again and again) on short moving pictures ('Reels', 'Shorts', 'TikToks') for their information.

In short: the algorithm that's favourite in their bubble decides how they think. With all major social media companies in the hands of zionists and other figures on the far right, users who rely solely on social media for their information vote from conservative to even more to the right.

Turns out: a KGB experiment from the sixties was right in its prediction: If you constantly bombard people with scary messages, they become (more) conservative. The effect is clear within two months of starting the brainwashing.
Americans who have been out of the country for a period of time actually experience shock when they return: "I knew it wasn't really good, but had no idea the situation in the US was thís bad!"
It's really bad. The US education system does not teach people to look outside their borders and conditions Americans into thinking they are the best. They are not. Except for being laughed at for being incredibly US-centered and stupid. "I think it is true, therefore I am convinced it is", is the motto of a lot of stupid people. Those in the US are no exception. A funny example is Katie Couric. The NBC presenter convincingly reported at the Winter Olympics the Dutch are good at ice skating 'because they skate to work'.
In other countries reporters take a few minutes to do some research about the subject they are to report on. Apparently that's not the case in the US. To the rest of the world that makes them as stupid as the people that vote for a president 'because he promised to bring down the price of eggs!'

Unfortunately in the US healthcare is not very affordable. Even 'the rich and famous' go bankrupt when they have to pay medical bills and don't happen to be multimillionaires. Or politicians.

There's a clear reason why authoritarian governments don't want civilians to receive a proper education. They need mindless slaves.

Unfortunately third world countries are often led by an authoritarian regime. The United States of America for example.
The last few decades saw an alarming decline in reading and math skills. Just look at President Trump.
And he's supposed to be the smartest amongst them.

If even their President is unable to think beyond the level of a child in second grade, you can imagine Americans are being laughed at by people in developed countries for their [stupidity] lack of thinking capability and basic skills in the area of math, history and geography.
How long do you think it will take the US to recover from what's done to the country in the past few decades and to be taken seriously by civilised countries again?

A Lifetime (a #poem)

A Lifetime (a #poem)

Loud witnesses of the night before
told the story of how strangers met,
danced to the same beat
and went to bed with tired feet

They enjoyed the night
although it was the afternoon,
shared a drink
and knew it would be over soon
but the memory would last
a lifetime

Name five christian values

"The Bible if full of very interesting verses. In whichever version you look. How about Psalms 137:9? "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks."
The verse makes me afraid to ask what the other six dwarfs do for fun.

Yes, I know. "You should not take every Bible verse literally!" Except for the ones evangelicals and other nut jobs cherry picked, apparently.

How do people who claim to be christian justify themselves not living according to their own teachings?
Short answer: they don't. Because they're not actual christians but just racists and bigots. If christo-fascists were actual christians they could easily name five christian values. And live by them. They're usually the same people who are against trans athletes in women's sports. But can't name five professional female athletes although they claim to protect women in sports.

Interestingly enough bigots never considered protecting men in sports against trans athletes. Why? Their favourite demagogue never blew the appropriate dog whistle.

Why are conservatives so extremely transfixed (pun intended) on how people identify themselves and not on actual problems like healthcare, education or infrastructure?
Are you - like christo-fascists - disturbingly obsessed with other people's genitals or do you have empathy and care about actual problems?

Where are the real Christians?

I know there are over 45,00 denominations of Christianiy and therefore there are many types of christians. But sometimes I wonder if the actual christian person still exists. You know, the ones that live according to Jesus' teachings and are therefore not racist bigots.

I know that there are racists and bigots in every single subculture, from Goth culture to God culture, but Christianity tensions the crown. Which is a too literal translation of a Dutch expression meaning 'tops them all'.

A clear example is when you ask people who call themselves christians if they're pro-life.
"Of course I am, so abortion should be outlawed and all Muslims must die, even when they're just kids!"
Apparently 'pro-life christians' are simultaniously 'anti-life christians'. And not just because they refuse to address the issue of gun control.

Are pro-life christians who condone a genocide just incredibly stupid, hypocrites or - and that's what I think, really - in a cult?

I have friends in Punk and Goth culture. And they understand: when someone who says is Punk is a racist, that person is not Punk. Christians find it impossible to state that when someone who says is Christian is a racist, that person is not christian. Or so it seems.

Do you think someone could be a real Christian as well as a bigot?

The worst bigots ever in the history of the world are MAGA-christians. They literally worship a guy who depicts all Seven Major Sins all by himself and thinks The Ten Commandments are rules to live by.
Maga-christians also appear to have a completely different version of the Bible.

Apparently the verse Matthew 6:5-6 is non-existent in the Trump Bible. His flock comes out in throves to pray to Him out on the streets so everyone can see how loyal they are to their Savior, Donald J. Trump.

Even more different than the King James version, used by most other idiots...pardon me...christians, mainly in the US. Did you know a few verses used to tell: "A man should not sleep with a boy" but was changed to "A man should not sleep with another man" because church leaders at the time did not like it that King James was bi?

Pam Bondi would say: "King James was absolutely not gay! He just liked having sex with men, you filthy antisemite communist! And why won't you admit he saved our economy?"

Scholars (for Maga-christians: people who actually studied your holy scriptures and are not in a cult) agree: the verses were originally focused on prohibiting pederasty (sex with young boys), incestuous homosexual acts, or acts connected to pagan idolatry rather than all homosexual relationships.

Why do you think that many people who call themselves christians are actually not?
