The Office of Congressional Ethics (click) is now no more than a name. The Republican majority has voted to remove all power from this important office. It was put in place to make sure politicians would act according to mutually degreed upon moral guidelines: no more lying, no more cheating, no more witholding information, being transparant, working in the interest of the voters, not themselves, friends or their own companies. No more self-enrichment and no more cutting deals with large companies.
Now the path is paved for people like these to behave as they please, without the risk of being punished for fraude, lies and other despicable behaviour.
